East Africa was home to some of man’s earliest ancestors. In southern Kenya and at Olduvai on the other side of the border with Tanzania has been found about 2 million year old remains of people.

Mombasa has preserved much of the old Swahili culture, as well as islands in Lamuarkipelagen around Lamu.Swahili, along with English the official language of Kenya.

Season : Most Kenya safari destinations are at their best between January and the end of March; the climate is mild, mostly dry and game viewing is at its peak. Naturally, this time is considered the best time to go to Kenya on safari but a rainy season visit – between mid-March to June and again between October and December – is well too.

Passports & Visas : A visa is compulsory and is obtained directly by the Embassy of Kenya in your country for USD $50 or for 40€. You can also get it at the international airport Jomo Kenyatta. It is valid for 3 months.

Health : It is very recommended to contact his doctor before the trip. He will can give you advises against paludism, Marburg fever (transpitted by frugivorous bat) and cholera. It is advised to be inoculated too against these diseases : Yellow fever, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Poliomyelitis, Meningitis, Typhoid, viral Hepatitis A and B, Rabies, Measles.

Languages : Swahili and English are the official languages in Kenya. Like in every African countries, there are dialects so in Kenya, there are more than 60 languages.

Climate: The climate varies from tropical along the coast to dry inland. Sometimes there are long dry periods and during the rainy season between March and May, floods can occur.The country receives a lot of sunshine all year round and summer clothes are worn widely throughout the year. However, it is usually cool at night, at dawn and at high altitude.
